Barcode Reader Programming - Disable NFC (Apple Pay Pop-Up)

Barcode Reader Programming - Disable NFC (Apple Pay Pop-Up)

Overview

Some customers who have barcodes have trouble scanning at the reader because their phone's payment processing feature will pop up and block the screen. This happens because the readers are compatible with NFC. However, few clients make use of this feature and would rather have it disabled.

Programming the Reader

Locate the barcode reader and scan the following QR configuration code from your device or a printout.

If you are having trouble scanning the code because of a pop-up, you may print it out or hold the device further from the reader. The optical scan works at a longer range than NFC.
When the configuration code is scanned, the reader will play two loud beeps. After that, it must be rebooted for the changes to apply.

Rebooting the Panel

  1. Locate the access control panel on your site and open the door.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall until all of the LEDs inside of the panel turn off.
  3. Reconnect the power cable.
After about a minute or two, the reader should power on and the prompts for NFC will no longer appear.
