Card Bank - Using Offset for Barcodes (ADVANCED USERS ONLY)

The Standard 26-Bit Format

The format in which a card is programmed is determined by the data pattern that will be compatible with the access control panel.  26-bit Wiegand specifies a facility code range from 0 - 255 and card number range from 1 to 65,535.  ( More details on understanding card data formats can be found at HID's website. )

Customers may have existing barcode tags whose external number are 6-digits or more.  In many instances, these external numbers can be parsed into a facility code and card id.  This is only true if the last 5 digits of the card are less than 65,535 and the first 1-3 digits fall into the range of acceptable facility codes.  In order to add these cards to the Brivo card bank, it is necessary to use the "Optional Card Offset" field.

When adding the cards, the first and last card numbers should match the external number printed on the card (i.e., including the facility code).  The card offset field should be set to the first card number (sans facility code).  Below are a couple of examples.

Examples:

Printed Card Numbers:  2400001 - 2410000  (facility code: 24, cards 1 - 10000)
  • First Card Number: 2400001
  • Last Card Number: 2410000
  • Optional Card Offset: 1
  • Facility Code: 24
Printed Card Numbers:  203022 - 203030 (screenshots below)
  • First Card Number: 203022
  • Last Card Number: 203030
  • Optional Card Offset: 3022
  • Facility Code: 2
