Changing Video Storage Settings

Changing Video Storage Settings

Video storage is managed on a per camera basis.  Depending on your device, you may have the choice of only Cloud Video Retention (Bridge) or both Cloud and On-premise Video Retention (CMVR).  The following is how to make changes to these settings and why you would want to make changes...

I have a Bridge and I want save money by reducing my video retention subscription

      1.  Login to Eagle Eye.
      2. Go to the Dashboard and click the Gear  icon under Actions for the camera you want to adjust.
      3. Click on the Retention tab
      4. Click the pull-down menu and select the duration of video you want to store.

5. Go to the Resolution tab
6. The Full Video Recording section is where video quality is defined for any saved video.  Pricing increases by video Resolution.  The greater the resolution the higher the monthly fee.

I have a CMVR and I want to save the maximum amount of video for critical cameras

  1.  Login to Eagle Eye.
      2. Go to the Dashboard and click the Gear  icon under Actions for the camera you want to adjust.
      3. Click on the Retention tab
      4. With a CMVR you always have the option to add Cloud Retention (for an additional fee), which will serve as a backup to any On Premise Retention.  The default is None (M10), however, any plan can added to your account for specific cameras.

5. You can set your CMVR to maintain both a MINIMUM and MAXIMUM amount of video per camera.  This is useful if you want to manage greater durations for more critical cameras.  Just note that there is a finite amount of space on the CMVR for storage.  The average retention duration is 30 days per camera when the CMVR is at full capacity and storing video at HD1 (720p) resolution.  Kee that average in mind when adjust MIN/MAX video retention on a CMVR.

6. Go to the Resolution tab
7. Resolution impacts On Premise recording capacity greatly, because resolution increases exponentially.  If resolution is increased beyond the default HD1 (720p), then storage will decrease by  50% with each increase level.
