Installing a Brivo Cellular Module

Installing a Brivo Cellular Module

Overview

The Brivo cellular module is a great way to deliver Internet where the service doesn't exist.  It is more reliable than wi-fi and not dependent on any wiring.  The following guide provides installation instructions for control panels provided by Latitude Security Solutions.

Network Provisioning

If you purchased the Brivo cellular module from Latitude Security, it is shipped fully provisioned. This means the device (IMEA), data service (SIM), and control panel association have already been made. The module simply needs to be mounted and connected to the appropriate control panel.

Alert
You MUST attach the cellular module to the assigned control panel.  The label on the box will indicate the control panel ID and corresponding module serial number.

Mounting

The cellular module comes with a mounting plate that can fasten to a wall with screws.  Another option is to use the provided two-sided tape and mount the device on the outiside of the Brivo control panel enclosure.

Warning
Do not mount near anything that may cause electrical interference, such as high-voltage devices and cabling or large metal structures (e.g., ductwork, beams).
Make sure the provided USB cable will reach inside the access control panel enclosure to the USB port on the enclosure.

Connecting

Using the provided USB cable, connect the cellular module to the USB port on the control panel.  The diagrams below display the USB port location.

It takes anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes for the cellular device to attach to the network and begin transmitting data.  If the Brivo device isn't online after 30 minutes, contact Latitude Security at support@latitudesecurity.com or +1 (866) 739-8588.
