Installing Varistors into Latitude Control Panels

Installing Varistors into Latitude Control Panels

Overview

Sometimes electric strikes and other locks will send pulses back to the control panel when locking and unlocking, which results in errors within Brivo's event log. Installing varistors into the control panel's power input and the lock relay that is having issues can prevent this from happening.

Installation

Before working on your panel, disconnect it from power and wait for all LEDs to turn off in order to reduce the risk of electric shock and damage to the components.
  1. Using a small flathead screwdriver, loosen the 12V power wires to the Brivo control panel (this should be labeled with your serial number).

  2. Insert each end of the varistor into the slots that containing the loosened wires. Make sure to hold the wires in their socket as the screws are no longer keeping them in place.

  3. Tighten the screws to secure the wires and varistor into the board.

  4. Repeat on each door relay that was sending erroneous pulses back to Brivo.
  5. Once you are finished, reconnect the control panel to power.
