Product types

Rhōmb products can be configured as access-type, membership-type, reservation-type, event-type, giftcert-type, or fee-type. Each type is designed for a specific use case depending on how customers access your facility, schedule time, or make payments.

Access-Type Products

Used for general access where customers can visit without booking a specific time.
  1. Customer selects: Date only
  2. Availability: Unrestricted within assigned schedule (e.g., business hours)
  3. Access details:
    1. Credential issued upon purchase
    2. Valid for a defined duration (days, weeks, months, etc.)
    3. Allows entry, exit, and re-entry during the valid period
  4. Common uses:
    1. Day passes
    2. Week or weekend passes
    3. All-day events

Membership-Type Products

Used for recurring or long-term access with ongoing benefits.
  1. Customer selects: Membership start date
  2. Billing: Recurring or fixed-term
  3. Availability: Unrestricted within assigned schedule (e.g., business hours)
  4. Access details:
    1. May include access credentials
    2. Remains active while membership is valid
    3. Can be paused or canceled
  5. Common uses:
    1. Monthly memberships
    2. Multi-month memberships
    3. Annual memberships

Reservation-Type Products

Used to reserve a private space or resource for a specific time.
  1. Customer selects: Date and time block
  2. Availability: Limited by number of resources per time slot
  3. Quantity behavior:
    1. Quantity does not affect availability
    2. One booking reserves one resource
  4. Access details: Optional credential valid during reserved time
  5. Common uses:
    1. Party rooms
    2. Conference or study rooms
    3. Sports courts

Event-Type Products

Used to sell individual spots in a shared activity with limited capacity.
  1. Customer selects: Date, time block, and number of spots
  2. Availability: Limited by total capacity per time slot
  3. Quantity behavior: Quantity reduces remaining availability
  4. Access details: Tied to participation in a scheduled activity
  5. Common uses:
    1. Classes (art, dance, sports)
    2. Camps and workshops
    3. Open play with limited capacity
    4. Ticketed events
Key distinction:
Event → Customers book spots in a shared activity, quantity selected affects remaining availability
Reservation → Customers reserve a private space, quantity selected does not affect remaining availability

Giftcert-Type Products

Used to sell gift cards that can be redeemed for future purchases.
  1. Customer receives: Unique gift card code via email
  2. Usage: Can be shared or used later
  3. Redeemed value is added as account balance
  4. Common uses: General gift cards

Fee-Type Products

Used for sundry items, administrative charges, adjustments, or other fees without granting access.
  1. Access credential: None
  2. Purpose: Charges and fees not associated with access
  3. Common uses:
    1. Retail items
    2. Event add-ons
    3. Service adjustments
    4. Damage fees
    5. Refund credits
    6. Administrative charges
