Brvo IPDC to ACS300-E Upgrade Installation
Overview
The following guide provides instructions for swapping the Brivo IPDC, which will be obsolete at the end of 2025, with the ACS300-E controller. The instructions provided are for the most common installations performed by Latitude Security; however, there may be variations based on power supply types and door lock specifics. Unplug or cut the power to the IPDC before performing any work
The following instructions apply to installation where the IPDC is inside an Altronix enclosure, which is typically an AL175ULX or eFlow power supply:
IPDC inside AL175ULX
- If you haven't already, POWER OFF the system by unplugging the power cord and disconnecting the battery backup.
- Gently pry the bottom of the IPDC away from the mount
Unmount IPDC
3. Flip over to view the back where the wires connect and take a picture.
4. Using a small flathead screw driver, loosen the terminals and disconnect each of the wires
5. Disconnect the Ethernet cable.
6. Label wires, if needed, to keep track of what is what.
7. The ACS300-E control panel has two-sided tape already fastened to the back. Peel off the backing of the tape and mount the ACS300 on the inside of the enclosure door:

Moving Connections to the ACS300-E
1. Power
Locate the 12VDC power supply that powered the IPDC and move it to the ACS300-E power input connection.

Polarity matters! Make sure red is positive (+) and black is negative (-)

Locate the reader cable, which is the cable with 4-5 connections, typically colored as Green, White, Black, Red, and Brown (optional).
Reference the picture you took of the IPDC, if you have to, to know which color connects to which reader port:
- Data 0 (D0) [green]
- Data 1 (D1) [white]
- Ground (G) [black]
- 12VDC (V) [red]
- Grn LED (Gr) [brown]

3. Lock Relay
Locate the lock relay cable, which is a cable with 2 connections. Reference the picture you took of the IPDC, to see the relay ports used on the IPDC. In most cases the ports are Normally Open (NO) and Com (C); however, this isn't always the case. The Normally Closed (NC) port is sometimes used depending on how the power supply is wired. Make sure you MATCH what was connected to the IPDC with the ACS300-E connection.

A. The lock relay is sending power to the lock directly from the IPDC
This means the relay is "wet" and the IPDC is sending 12VDC to the door lock to unlock (electric strike) or to lock (maglock). A wet relay is typically implemented when the source of power to the IPDC is Power over Ethernet (PoE), meaning the network connection also supplies the power to the device.
How to check the IPDC if the lock relay is WET:
1. On the back side of the IPDC find the jumpers located to the right of the lock relay ports.
2. If the jumpers are on the bottom two pegs, the relay is wet. If the jumpers are on the top two pegs, the relay is dry and another power supply is part of the lock circuit.
