Assign or Remove User's PIN Code

Assign or Remove User's PIN Code

Overview

This section provides instructions for assigning a PIN code credential to users. A PIN code credential allows a user to unlock a door with a designated numeric combination, removing the need for individual authentication devices such as cards or fobs. Like other authentication methods, a PIN code can be set to expire after a certain date or remain valid indefinitely.

Assigning a PIN to Users

  1. Login to Brivo OnAir
  2. Using the left menu, navigate to Users >> Users
  3. Use the Search field to find the user that is receiving the PIN.  Start typing in the search field, and the matching names will appear in the list.

  4. Click on the name of the user to edit their profile
  5. Scroll down the screen until you see the section labeled Credentials
  6. Click the link +Assign Credential, and a pop-up window appears
  7. Click on the PIN option:

  8. You have the option to assign a PIN of your choice or have the system generate a unique PIN.  A PIN code must be unique, and not easy to hack.  For example, 1234 or 1111, will not work.
    1.  The PIN Length is the number of digits, which is 1 to 8.
    2. We suggest using the Generate PIN button to allow the system to create a unique PIN given the number of digits entered.
    3. If you want the PIN to be effective during a specific timeframe (temporary access, for example), check the box to Set Effective Date and Time Range then enter the start date/time and end/time.  If the end is indefinite, leave the end date/time blank.
    4. Click Assign Credential button to assign the PIN code

Remember to Save Changes using the prompt at the bottom of the page or your changes will be reverted!
To assign another code, click the "Users" menu on the left, and repeat the process with the other user.

Removing PIN Codes from Users

  1. Repeat steps 1-5 above.
  2. Locate the PIN code you wish to remove in the user's Credentials section. Click the icon on the corresponding card.

Remember to Save Changes using the prompt at the bottom of the page or your changes will be reverted!
